There's a Long Long Trail

Ann Cullis printed 100 programme sheets for our Remembrance event on Monday night. There were only 12 left at the end.  And I’m not even certain that all the cast would have taken one away since they each had their own full scripts.  The Elwin Room was a buzz of people fifteen minutes before the official opening of the doors.  We had to  lay out two more rows of seats .

After the presentation, nothing but rapturous and admiring praise for the readers and singers.  “They must have been working on this for months,” several people said.  “They are so professional.”  ” Their timing is immaculate.”  “They work so well together.” “Everyone reads so well.”

All of this was totally deserved.  But the audience was mislead.

The wonderful cast had just one rehearsal for Returning We Hear the Larks.

I will post up other comments as they come in.

  1. What a triumph, Sue! That was such a powerful evening of words and images and music, and so beautifully choreographed. It was so very moving. I found myself repeatedly imagining my own son in that situation, which really brought home the horror of it all.

  2. FROM ANN CULLIS, SENIOR ARTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER B&NES
A massive ‘thank you’ to you all for your time, energy and dedication in putting on Monday evening’s event – and of course not just the evening itself but all the preparation and rehearsal time as well.

I reckon we had about 85 people in the audience, which is fantastic, and I’m sure we all spoke to people afterwards, it was very well received. It is wonderful how this series of annual events has developed, retaining the same ‘feel’ each year, but every year something distinctive and different.

Thank you all once again for being part of it.
